Ukraine’s Security Service (SSU) is investigating the alleged raider takeover of the Stynava oil and gas field by the family of former Ecology Minister Mykola Zlochevsky.
According to investigators, the terms of a license for the neighboring Semyhynivske field may have allowed resources to be extracted beyond its boundaries without making the required payments to the state budget.
In 2011, when Zlochevsky headed the Ministry of Ecology, a company linked to him obtained a license for the Semyhynivske field without specifying the depth of extraction. According to the investigation, this omission may have created an opportunity to extract resources from the neighboring Stynava field.
The SSU estimates the potential damage to the state at more than UAH 1 billion annually. If confirmed, the findings would point to a large-scale scheme involving the exploitation of natural resources, potentially costing the state budget billions of hryvnias.

At the same time, it is known that representatives of Zlochevsky are currently also actively seeking “access” to the Security Service of Ukraine, which has already appealed to the State Service of Geology and Subsoil of Ukraine and the State Commission of Ukraine on Mineral Reserves demanding that decisions that could harm state interests not be adopted. In addition, a corresponding appeal has been sent to the Ministry of Economy and Environment of Ukraine requesting the establishment of a commission and the conduct of an official inspection of the available facts.
